As the successor to the earlier approx. bi-monthly meetings in Beijing from the mid 1980-ies, between the Norwegian Ambassador to China, representatives of the Embassy & its Commercial Section, and senior executives of the Norwegian business community in China/Beijing,  the Norwegian Business Forum (NBF) Beijing was established at its Inaugural General Meeting on 28 April 2005 at the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Beijing, under sponsorship by Ambassador Tor Chr. Hildan who was also one of the main promoters behind its formation.

The forum serves much the same purposes and functions as those of a Norwegian chamber of commerce in China/Beijing.

We welcome memberships from Norwegian and Chinese linked companies, institutions and individuals engaged in the operations, development and the promotion of Norwegian linked business in China and between our two respective countries.

Through networking, meetings, seminars and cooperation with relevant entities, we aim to enhance and keep updated our members' knowledge of the developments of business opportunities and of the regulatory conditions for conducting business in China.

For Norwegian companies that are new to the Chinese market, we serve as an excellent and convenient information and competence center, including the facilitation of establishing contacts with those of our members that may possess relevant expertise for the specific case.

On matters related to Norwegian linked business and economic activities in China, NBF Beijing serves as an advisory body to the Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and towards the relevant authorities and institutions in Norway.

NBF Beijing is also engaged in organizing, often jointly with our Embassy in Beijing, social family functions for our members and for the Norwegian linked community in Beijing at large; such as the now traditional 17th of May Family Garden Party and the Christmas Family Party & Buffet, the Julebord.

The highest body of the NBF Beijing is the Annual General Meeting, which formulates our Articles and elects our Board of Directors.
